What a superb album! Whereas not sounding exactly like RMI, AirSculpture, Redshift etc it should appeal to people who enjoy that style of music.

The first track 'Beyond the Horizon of the Mind' lasts over nineteen minutes and is split into two sections, the first being laid back and brooding with a lovely atmospheric lead line. The second part is faster and much more sequential with sonic splashes and suitably cosmic embellishments. 'Hypnotic Dreams' gets under way with a swirling lead line over a subdued sequence which is soon joined by a slow drum. This could be used to accompany some grotesque spaced out funeral procession. After a couple of minutes a very strong lead line scorches its way over the top. The sequence changes and a vocoder voice can be heard which isn't too dissimilar to 'Chromium Echoes' period Neuronium. The pace starts to quicken and a whole host of other layers are added to an already heady brew. 'The Dark Side of the Mind' starts with deep drones and some half heard whispers in the background. The tension builds as lead line and effects are added one on top of another. A base drum heightens the tension still further then subsides for a few minutes to let the lead lines be heard on there own, then even these subside just leaving the drones. After a short time one of the most moody flutey synth lines I have ever heard is introduced. We then get more of the vocoder vocals to close.

Syndromeda never let the tracks just plod on, as soon as one "atmosphere" has run its course another is created. In this way the CD grabs your attention from start to finish. The next track 'Over the Edge' starts with another subdued sequence over which can be heard the vocal sample "I still have a dream". Yet more blistering lead lines are added, complemented superbly by a chugging sequence and a crashing drum sound. The "I still have a Dream" sample is used again but a sinister voice replies "Or is it a nightmare". Immediately the sequence changes and we get the feeling that something rather nasty is just lurking round the next corner. The whole pace quickens again, the chase is on. The piece closes.
