The imaginatively titled 'Intro' is a short scene setting atmospheric number before we get into the more substantial 'Ankarian Tales'. You just know its going to be a belter from the first few notes of the lovely deep sequence which is joined by wordless ethereal pads and an infectious foot tapping beat. Then in comes the main lead - well homage to Jean Michel Jarre or what?! The pace momentarily slows as we get a lovely piano melody only to return to the extremely pleasant and easy to get on with lead and rhythms. 'Transcengenic Trip' is another commercial sounding number which does have a slight dance edge in the rhythm department but also has the spirit of JMJ firmly planted all over it. A chaotic series of notes at the outset of 'Beyond the Horizon' transform into a pleasant mid tempo chugger with bright happy melodies. As before Jarre touches are liberally sprinkled, a little tongue in cheek maybe.

'Gregoriana' begins rather appropriately with Gregorian chants. OK, not remotely original but I don't think this album is trying to be – his influences are displayed with pride. There is even a little synth pop in there. Must admit its a catchy number both rhythmically and melodically. Some reviewers might dismiss it because of unoriginality but I simply found it a fun and an enjoyable listen. 'Birdland' as you might have guessed commences with birdsong before a lovely piano melody starts up. Its much more delicate and even emotional than the previous tracks, a synth ballad if you like. Organ and symphonic pads get 'Syntheria' underway. Another Jarre style sequence mixes with a dance beat and very strong melody. Henry loved it, got him jumping around the room. He has impeccable taste - for a four year old. Thank goodness for unpretentious innocent enthusiasm and joy. Just about sums the album up actually.

'However a Dream' again features the piano this time accompanied by high register lead melody and another slightly dance oriented rhythm. 'Space Flight' starts with a bright rapid sequence. An equally speedy rhythm is added to it. This would be ideal motorway driving music. It did remind me of the soundtrack for an early Saga racing game actually. Remember me mentioning earlier about him being up front with his influences well you can't really get more blatant than naming the last track on the album 'J.M.J.'!! It will probably mean more to fans of the man than it did to me as I know little about his work after 'Magnetic Fields' but to my ears there were much more obvious tributes to him on earlier tracks. It's my least favourite track here actually.

I reviewed Marek's album 'Creation- Universal Consciousness' before this one even though of the two this was composed years earlier. During the time he has developed more of a style of his own but this was certainly a very enjoyable beginning if beginning indeed it was because I must admit to knowing nothing about his history other than that he seems to herald from Poland. Het eerste korte nummer "Intro" zet enkel een atmosfeer neer vooraleer we van start gaan met het stevigere "Ankarian Tales". Vanaf de eerste noten van de mooie diepe sequence, bijgestaan door woordloze etherische tapijtjes en een aanstekelijke beat, weet je al dat dit nummer een topper is. Dan volgt de hoofdsolo, duidelijk een huldebetoon aan JMJ. De snelheid zakt eventjes weg en we krijgen een mooie prettige pianomelodie, die erg goed samengaat met de solo en het ritme. "Transcengenic Trip" is ook een commercieel klinkend nummer met een licht 'dance' gevoel op ritmisch gebied, maar zeer zeker ook met de ziel van JMJ. Een chaotische serie noten worden in "Beyond the Horizon" getransformeerd naar een prettig klinkend mid-tempo nummer met vrolijke melodieën.

Weer voel je de invloed van JMJ. "Gregoriana" begint met ……gregoriaanse gezangen. Ok, niet bijster origineel maar ik denk ook niet dat dat de bedoeling is van dit album – zijn invloeden worden weer met trots vertoond. Soms klinkt het zelfs wat synthpop-achtig. Dit nummer grijpt je aandacht, zowel ritmisch als melodisch. Door sommigen zal dit nummer verworpen worden door zijn gebrek aan originaliteit maar ik vond het prettig en aangenaam om naar te luisteren. "Birdland" begint, zoals je wellicht al kon raden, met vogelgeluiden, alvorens een mooie pianomelodie komt aanzetten. Dit is gevoeliger en emotioneler dan de vorige tracks, bijna een synth ballade. "Syntheria" begint met orgel en symfonische klanken. Een andere JMJ sequence wordt vermengd met een dance beat en een heel sterke melodie. Henry hield hiervan, hij sprong ervan door de kamer. Hij heeft een geweldige smaak voor zijn vier jaar oud. Bedankt voor zoveel bescheiden en onschuldig enthousiasme en plezier. "However a Dream" is weer met piano, deze maal bijgestaan door een hoge solomelodie en een licht dance georiënteerd ritme.
