Miramar Collection 2
Nearly 75 minutes, 16 tracks, lots of artists both established and new, Miramar's professional packaging. It's the type of CD with which really you can't lose. In common with many I like hearing samplers such as this, because it can lead to some gems which would otherwise remain undiscovered. The opener 'Socu' by Coen Bais would appeal to anyone who likes quality late-night listening. 'Journey' by Pete Bardens is very appealing, and the tracks from Zazen ('Zuni' and 'In the Upper Atmosphere') underline what a professional outfit they are. 'Catwalk' and 'Midwinter Night' by Tangerine Dream, 'Magic Theater' and 'Curiosity Kills' by Jan Hammer and Jon Serrie's 'Blue Lumia' and 'Distant Moment' represent the more established artists, and with music by Michael Gettel, Paul Speer and James Reynolds also featured there's certainly plenty to try out. Certainly the overall style of the album is fairly laid back, so if you fancy a bit of a relax while at the same time hearing Miramar's finest, here's your chance. (GG)
