OK, it's world music time. If you like lots of native samples, earthy sounding effects, smatterings of tribal rhythmics and didgereedoo, all punctuated by appropriately ethnic sounding synth timbres, then this album could well be for you. It hasn't got the infectious rhythms of Deep Forest, or the massive power and presence of Haslinger's 'World Without Rules'. Melodically it's nothing really to shout about either. So what has it got? Well, yes it does invoke plenty of steamy jungle atmosphere. You can almost feel the sweat on the brow, the slap of foliage on the shoulder, the buzz of mosquitos in the air. It's been well put together with state of the art machinery, and there's always plenty going on with attention to detail high on the agenda. But overall the style and concept has been covered many times on other albums. Well presented, but nothing to make it stand apart from other zoological releases. (GG)
