Wave World The Concert Movie (PAL)

EM video's are relatively rare so I approached this one with interest. Packaging is nice with full colour outer sleeve, and a simple printed label on the video itself. One important technical aspect is that the video is available in PAL (UK/Europe) or NTSC (US) formats.

First thing to say is that this is a hugely impressive video. It opens with a few brief snippets / promos including some footage from the live concerts which is particularly impressive - I'd love to see Wave World play live!

The "main feature" is a series of extended video sequences accompanied by Wave World's music. Note that this isn't a full video of their live performance, instead it's an extended montage of the computer generated displays used as a back drop to the live shows. The videos, appropriately, seem to portray the symbiotic lifestyle of a largely water based planet. There's plenty of swamps, and foliage, together with weird alien creatures from insect floaters, balloon type drifters, and propeller shaped twisters which drop pollen to further stimulate other creatures on the ground. There's a smattering of technology (actually not enough for my liking), for example a few space craft, and an impressive space station which acts of the focal point of probably the most striking part of the video which features a worm-hole style journey, accompanied by possible the best musical sequence too.

And musically this video isn't found wanting, in fact it's perhaps even more varied then Wave World's CDs. There's plenty of atmosphere and subtle detail, and when the rhythmics are unleashed they really rock with some searing synth line straight out of the Schulze top drawer.
