Element 4
Continuation
Well, here we go again. I realise that I've raved over quite a few releases in this issue, and I'm afraid the story will be the same here. The artist behind Element 4 is Uwe Saher of Brainwork fame. Don't know if this a parallel project or a conscious decision to move on as suggested by the title. Either way there's no doubt about the intentions here. Element 4 is a platform to produce 100mph "pedal to to the metal" ambient/dance stompers. And it is carried off with remarkable success.

After quite a sinister short intro we are hit by 'Urban Groove' which catapults a bass dance beat into the midst of some choice sequencing. 'Quakebeat' is a very onomatopoeic title because it literally assaults the senses with Richter scale bass - absolutely fantastic. If you liked the beat on Robert Miles's 'Children' and would like to hear it overlaid with some fantastic sequencing here's your chance. Filter sweeps, stabbing synths - it's all here. 'Sunset Dome' contrasts some great synth motifs and a brilliant choppy sequence.

'Organic Beats' is simply awesome - it's the only word. Abyssal bass - scything stabs. Seat-belts on. This is an absolutely cracking album. Light the blue touch paper and stand well back. (GG)
