The opening track ‘Pillars in Gradient Fill’ is simply awesome. A razor sharp infectious lead line soars over a brilliant sequence. If this doesn't get you playing air keyboard nothing will. Another axe man blistering melody is added to it and you soar to the heights smashing through the roof of heaven.

That track is impossible to follow but it doesn’t mean that the rest of the album isn’t well worth having. It isn’t all anthemic stuff, some tracks are laid back relaxing numbers such as ‘Cold Mountain’. Others are grandiose and moody such as ‘Cringe’ (another stunner) and ‘Strangers’, yet others are just heart wrenchingly beautiful such as ‘Escalante’.

OK so its a little short on running time but if you are into heavy melodics, superb production and fantastic rhythms then this will contain more stuff on it you will want to play time and time again than most 70 minute epics.

The message here is quality and not quantity. It is rather commercial and one of those that your friends might even like. This album goes to show that accessibility doesn’t necessarily equate with mediocrity. (DL)
