Dome
Dome
Another CD single from the excellent Cursor Club label. I hope I'm not dropping another clanger here, I'm presuming this is not Crown Invisible because it makes no reference to them on the sleeve - however the music is very similar in style, with loping and spacious rhythms and some very tasty electronic textures. Dome does have a slightly edgier, more ominous feel than the more accessible Crown Invisible melodics, but in general if you like CI you will like this.

The CD opens with 'DR 5', with skeletal percussion and deep synth pads producing an offbeat but eminently enjoyable riff. 'DR 1' features some delightful synth textures and subtle themes. This really does sound like CI and is completely contemporary with the music on both of their eponymous CDs. Ditto for track 3 'DR4' subtitled 'Monotone Mix'. Melodically this sounds like track 2 at half speed but with a more prominent rhythm. Again it's very well executed, as is the final track 'DR 6' which is the only track not to feature rhythmics.

If you haven't yet tried one of the Cursor Club releases, go for Crown Invisible's 'Remixes' album first. If you already have that, and fancy more in the same style, this is for you. (GG)
