The Dream Mixes (Double CD)
|
CD1 is titled 'The Dream Mixes', and is identical to the Miramar single CD release of the same name. Of the ten tracks, six are remixes of pieces from recent albums and four are new tracks. All the remixes give an extra edge and dimension to the original outings, the rhythms more dynamic and the sequences stronger. The new pieces also knock spots off much of the bland fayre served up on recent studio albums. So, all in all a winner - and there's no need to change a winning formula.
CD2 is titled 'The Club Dream Mixes', and this time you get four remixes and two completely new tracks. The opening pair are radio edits of 'Touchwood' and 'Little Blond in the Park of Attractions', which is a bit pointless really. The new tracks 'Iowa' and 'Sojus' carry on the strong form shown on CD1 with some great rhythms, kicking sequences and dynamic production. It's the re(re re re)mixes of 'Catwalk' and 'Touchwood' though which are the most notable, and radical! Pure rave, pure 100mph dance, pure energy!
Steve Roberts summed up 'Rockoon' by saying "wave goodbye or stay on board, it's up to you". This release will have you either diving for the lifeboats or sipping champagne in the bar! I'm sure Steve on hearing this will be in the latter camp, and on this form it's difficult to disagree. Your round Steve? (GG)
