Van Bradder
Dreamscapes
This is the first CD by British artist Van Bradder and is one of the best space music albums I have heard from this country in a long time. I would have expected this to have been sent me from the USA as it reminded me very much of Robert Rich or Steve Roach without the ethnic bits. There is virtually no rhythmic content on the album, just track after track of constantly evolving atmospheres. If you want to hear some of this music before you buy then check out a version of 'Beyond the Blue Distance' on the Sequences 17 CD. Such atmospheric music is very hard to describe as the pictures created in the mind will be different from one person to the next. Much space music can be very boring just being drone layered over drone, this album is much more than that with enough going on in both foreground and background to hold one's attention. I certainly enjoyed it from beginning to end. (DL)
