Early Reflection 1980-1990
|
The equipment list for this album includes the massive Roland System 700 and the underrated Yamaha CS30. Ralf Knappe-Heinbockel selected the music from over 700 minutes' worth of material and points out that it was all recorded without the use of computers or multi-track. He even compares it himself to the likes of TD's 'Atem' or Schulze's 'Irrlicht' so you are left in no doubt as to where the music is coming from. This album is a gold mine of classic EM sounds. It could easily be the soundtrack of Alien IV, and this is supported by 20 minute 'Aliens I-III' which brings to mind the acid swept landscape of a desolate planet. There are sequences on show, for example the bright 'Clear Vibes' and this album actually grows in strength with the magnificent 'The Burning' the start of half a dozen gems which which are challenging yet totally accessible.
Rarely has archive material been so deserving of release. (GG)
