Ecologie
An album to "...help inspire you to preserve the precious ecosystems of our planet." Primarily the melodies on the album are picked out on acoustic guitar, and the the 5 minute title track demonstrates this perfectly with laid back themes tackled with some expertise, backed by steady percussive touches. 'Scottish Highlands Melody' features suitable melodic flourishes which some may find clichéd, others appropriate. 'Coral Sea' consists of a well judged motif accompanied by careful synthesised layers, and 'Rainforest Dance' creates another pleasing melody on acoustic guitar and the musicianship is again top notch. 'Symbiosis' is a slow piece which reminds me of moments from Jan Hammer's 'Beyond the Minds Eye', and 'Desert Winds' initially airs a deceptively simple but effective theme which develops into complex interplay between pin sharp guitar work and synthesised textures. 'Blue Dolphin' is another slower piece, though none of the tracks really break into a sweat, with synth leads combining with acoustics and the remaining pieces all maintain the atmosphere of what has gone before. Fans of acoustic guitar/synthesiser combinations should find much to please here, and as expected from Miramar it's a quality offering. (GG)
