Element 4
Elements of Trance
The third CD-R we've reviewed by Element 4, and by now it's perhaps too easy to become complacent about these albums. However, complacency would be a mistake. This is a meticulously prepared album, serving up yet more hypnotic rhythms and sequences.

Of the 16 tracks, 7 are short bridging pieces which in themselves offer much to admire and enjoy. It's the main pieces which serve up the real goods though. Written in 1995, it's surprising it's taken so long for these albums to see the light of day. I'm guessing, but perhaps it all came to a head while Uwe Saher was sitting in front of the TV one day when Robert Miles' 'Children' hit the screen. After dropping his bowl of cornflakes in his lap in response to the realisation that he'd been ploughing the same furrow for some time with scant acknowledgement, he decided to dust off the "old tapes" just to make a point.

I'm sure it's nothing like that of course, but either way the Element 4 concept is a real blast and we may yet see Uwe on TOTP resplendent in boiler suit and wearing a torch on his head. (GG)
