(Excerpt from track 'Part One')

There are six sections to this album, most running into each other. ‘Part One’, gets things started in typically Berlin School fashion. A deep drone is joined by a ballsey ‘Rubycon’ style sequence, lovely mellotron softening things a little. Growling lead touches snarl through the pulsations. A heavy rhythm gives a more contemporary twist but in complete contrast we also get additional tron of the most traditional type possible. Rhythm takes a breather as the sequence hurtles this way and that superbly, keeping the mind focused throughout. The best track Graham has done so far and an awesome way to start the album. We move through to ‘Part Two on a fizzing tone. No time is spent on atmospherics here through as a blistering sequence surges forward in the first few seconds. Again it morphs wonderfully all over the place, darting this way and that at one hundred miles per hour (or however many notes per second that equates to!). And yes, of course there is mellotron as well. If manic sequencing is your thing then this is a real gem. Probably even better than the opener. ‘Part 3’ is a short piece calming things down a little, soothing, swelling pads punctuated by a gentle percussive line low in the mix. Sequences return in full force for ‘Part 4’, rumbling away, creating quite a dark brooding atmos. Another sequence enters at around the half way mark increasing the excitement without reducing the ominous feeling one jot. A lovely flutey synth calms things down for the opening section of ‘Part 5’. Sequences and rhythms soon pick up the pace however, though this is somewhat calmer, subtler even, than on the other sequencer based numbers. More lines of pulsations do come in and the mellotron is ever-present keeping things within the rather pensive, even questing mood already created. ‘Part 6’ brings things to a conclusion, sequences weaving their spell from the very first second. The bass line really makes the ground shake. Things are softened a little by more flutey synth but overall it is the sequences that are the main focus of attention. As with the previous tracks all the lines of pulsations are expertly manipulated making sure that the tapestry of sound is ever shifting and fresh. DL
