Minds In Motion Horizonte |
‘Zeitrad’ sounds like a robot walking across an alien landscape. The sequence also has a very mechanical quality to it. The melodies are first rate and you could actually hum them. It is the sort of track that would lend itself very much to having lyrics written for it. ‘Reflektionen’ begins with what sounds like sports cars zooming past. Synth pads are then layered on top of one another to make a very grandiose effect. These die away and a couple of playful sequences take centre stage, quickly building and eventually being augmented by a rhythm. It is a very playful track which bounces along nicely. We get straight into the sequence on ‘Trance’. The sound of the wind then blows over the top. The sequence comes and goes giving the number a rather quirky feel. Little melodies also come and go keeping the attention focused. ‘Wustenreise’ begins with cosmic bleeps then sumptuous synth pads take over. Again when the sequence comes in the pads make themselves scarce. What’s more its cracking and the lead lines are rather superb as well. This is a great track which gets even better when the rhythm (a nice bass one) is brought into play.
‘Tanz auf den Wolken’ is a cheerful track with a jaunty happy sequence and foot tapping hypnotic rhythm. ‘Erwachen’ begins with a number of melodic motifs. Its all very delicate then we get some big washes of sound flowing over everything. After they depart a lonesome lead line plays over a very delicate backing. At about the half way mark the pace quickens considerably and the sequences start to make more of an impact. The emphasis is still firmly with the melodies however and very fine they are too. Another excellent track. ‘Gedanken in Bewegung’ begins life as a floating tranquil number but after three and a half minutes a strong sequence makes its presence known. It starts to mutate after about a minute becoming even more strident. It is then accompanied by some drums and it rattles on nicely until the end. So to sum up this is a sort of modern version of retro but also with a big slab of humour, Baffo Banfi occasionally came to mind! (DL)
