Inertial Moments

As CDR technology advances and (more importantly) comes down in price sufficiently to make limited releases a viable proposition, this sort of CDR project will inevitably become an increasing part of the EM scene. RMI have promised more releases along the lines of 'Burned & Frozen' and I'm sure it won't stop there. "But are they proper releases?" is the usual question. Well, RMI proved how good they can be and when you see and hear this CD it underlines that the answer is emphatically yes! The presentation is so good it's almost unbelievable that it's a limited run of only 100 numbered copies. Even the CD itself has a very clever printed label making it very much a companion to 'Map Reference'. The music is taken from his recent live appearance at the Flowerpot in Derby. The first 30 minutes of the album is taken up by 'Freak of Geometry' and 'The Second Hand Swept Away....' from his debut album, and they sound full blooded and as good as ever. A brace of new tracks follow, kicking off with 'SpaceTime' which really is an eye opener. You know this guy is talented but when he throws top notch sequencing and inspirational lead soloing together like this it transcends description. Wavestar fans should not miss out on this track! 'Leitrim' is a delightful piece with a lilting melody, and 'Untitled' (from Sequences 17) finishes the set in spectacular fashion. Overall, this is more than just a great collector's piece. It's a superb album in its own right and a fine momento of the concert. Buy it quick because there aren't many around! (GG)
