Fonya In Flux

Fonya aka Chris Fournier creates a fine blend of instrumental rock and EM. At times like Camel, at others Genesis or even Eloy. The keyboard and guitar playing really are first rate. The opening track introduces the album in very relaxed and melodic fashion but we are soon rudely awoken by the fast and energetic 'X Transporter' , driving drums, heavy guitar and all over a superb synth backdrop. This track would be amazing live. 'Totally Organic' quietens things down again and features some great bass guitar. 'Behind Closed Doors' just makes me want to close my eyes and float away to the beautiful melody. This guy certainly knows how to write a good tune! 'Fleabitten Cat' is another heavy track, distorted guitar etc - takes me back to my rebellious youth! The album finishes with cover versions of the classic Genesis instrumentals 'Los Endos' & 'Hairless Heart'. (DL)
