'The Fabulous Neutrinos' is the title track from T Bass UK's second album. It's as powerful a number as you could want - drums, guitar and loads of synths combine together to form something of a rock anthem. 'Tranquility Bass 2001' is a live version of a track from the now out of print first T Bass UK album and was recorded at the BBC. If anything it has even more oomph than the original. It is similar to modern TD style but with more passion. Sequences, lead lines and electric guitar whip up quite a storm- wonderful stuff! Alfa Centauri Medley' kicks off with a live version of 'Endura' which I don't think is on any of the 'official' T Bass UK releases. The drums come in flourishes over lovely almost angelic pads, the contrast of power and delicacy working wonderfully. We then get 'Time after Time' which is also live, the original being found on the Connexion EP. It is a very different affair, all very dark and atmospheric with clanging metallic percussion then it's all change with a whimsical lead line. It's unlike anything I have heard them do before. 'Generator' was recorded live at the fourth EMMA festival and as far as I know has not been on any official T Bass UK album. Slow rhythms start up over melodic pads. It has power to it, especially with some very nice bass lines but it is all kept under control with some excellent sounds chosen for the lead that give it menace in a way that Mark Shreeve knew how to do so well on albums like 'Legion' and 'Crash Head'. The guitar, which makes an entrance in the third minute, I did think was slightly cheesy though. The original version of 'Lovesong' was also on the out of print 'Infection of Time'. This is a live version with some nice heavy guitar, again recorded at the BBC. It is more up tempo than the title would suggest with excellent lead lines but this time the feel is optimistic, even euphoric, rather than sinister.

'Sian' was also recorded at EMMA IV and as far as I know has never seen the light of day before. To start off with we get a melody played on some sort of chimes. Soft backing joins it to form a very pleasant (too pleasant maybe) number completely different to the T Bass I know! 'Secret Life Medley' links bits together from the fantastic Skin Mechanix album and in my opinion doesn't really do 'The Secret Life of Angels' justice though you also get the unreleased track 'Overflight'. Steam hisses through thundering drums and sequences with yet another superb melodic lead line bouncing over the top. The fourteen-minute length is no substitute to listening to the whole Skin Mechanix CD though. Even if you only like this a little I would still advise you to pick up the album. 'A Question of Time' is the third track recorded live at the BBC. It really let's rip and must be great to play on stage. The original was the final track from 'The Fabulous Neutrinos'.

'Waving at Mono' is another Skin Mechanix track. I don't know where it comes from, though it was apparently recorded live in 2002. The basic track would have been right at home on the album, complete with hissing steam. The lead line is very T Bass UK though - an excellent combination. The CD will play on any normal CD player but if you have a computer (works on at least Windows 2000 and above) you will also have access to over 200 photos! At the moment (July 2003) this is only a promotional release. It is free but to get it you must buy EITHER 'The Fabulous Neutrinos' by T Bass UK or 'The Secret Life of Angels' by Skin Mechanix (that is one CD in total). Alternatively buy any other TWO CDs from the entire list of titles SMD has for sale. Whichever option you decide you must also ASK FOR IT, as we don't want to waste any by sending them to people who don't them. (DL)

The Fabulous Neutrinos is de titeltrack van het tweede album van T Bass UK. Dit is een erg krachtig nummer met drums, gitaar en massa's synthklanken, dit gaat zelfs richting rock. "Tranquility Bass 2001" is een live versie van een track van het eerste T Bass UK album – niet meer verkrijgbaar – opgenomen voor de BBC. Dit heeft nog meer kracht dan het origineel. Dit is wat gelijkaardig aan de moderne TD-stijl maar dan met meer passie. Sequences, solo's en elektrische gitaar – als een mooie wervelwind. "Alfa Centauri Medley" is de live versie van 'Endura' – waarschijnlijk nog niet eerder uitgebracht op een officiële uitgave. Weelderige drums en bijna engelachtige tapijtjes, een contrast tussen kracht en gevoel. Dan verder met "Time after Time", hetwelk ook live is met het origineel op de Connexion EP. Dit is wat anders, donker en atmosferisch met metaalklinkende percussie en later een grillige solo. Dit is compleet anders dan wat ze normaal doen.

"Generator" is live opgenomen op het vierde EMMA festival en dit is volgens mij ook nooit eerder verschenen op een andere officiële uitgave. Een traag ritme start over melodische paden. Dit heeft kracht, ook mede door de baslijnen. Het wordt echter allemaal zeer goed onder controle gehouden en heeft enkele zeer mooie soloklanken die het wat dreigend maken, op een beetje eenzelfde manier als Mark Shreeve te werk gaat op 'Legion' en 'Crash Head'. De gitaar, dewelke er rond de derde minuut bijkomt, was naar mijn oordeel wat te zwak. De originele versie van "Lovesong" komt ook van 'Infection of Time'. Hier hebben we een live versie met een mooie maar stevige gitaar, ook weer opgenomen op de BBC. Dit is meer up-tempo dan de titel suggereert en de solo klinkt erg optimistisch, zelfs euforisch. "Sian" is ook opgenomen op EMMA IV en heeft tot nu toe ook nog nooit het daglicht gezien. Om te beginnen hebben we een melodie, gespeeld op een soort van klokken. De zachte achtergrond maakt dit tot een prettig (misschien wat te) nummer, een beetje ongewoon voor hen.
