Keller & Schonwalder
444 Oscillators (More Loops)
|
This is the first follow up to Loops and Beats. If you remember with that 2CD set one album was laid back and the other was more rhythmic. More
Loops is therefore quite a reflective and peaceful album. I assume when More Beats is released we will be treated to something that is full of
energy.
‘Ronda’ is a beautiful track to begin proceedings. It mainly consists of acoustic guitar and synth backing. It could have gone on for twice the length
as far as I am concerned. If it had been any more relaxing I would have been a pool of mush on the ground. Next we have the longest track ‘Lost in
Time’. It is dedicated to Klaus Schulze and it is easy to see why. At times it reminded me of some of the more laid back moments from his
‘Timewind’ album. ‘Beam me Up’ is somewhat more tuneful though still with that deep, lush analogue backing. It is gently rhythmic and gets into a
really infectious groove as it progresses. This track keeps to Mario and Detlef’s roots but at the same time chucks in many other influences in an
unexpected but inspirational way. The more times I have listened to this piece the greater is the effect it has had on me. One of my favourite Keller
and Schonwalder tracks ever!
‘Rho Choronea Borealis’ is again very like Klaus Schulze in drift mode but this time of the ‘Mirage’ / ‘Body Love’ variety. Sit in a darkened room and
let your mind empty, the perfect antidote to a stressful day. ‘Ambient Tales’ takes us back full circle to a similar style to the first track with the
melody hanging around an acoustic guitar sound. (DL)
