A sort of explosive whoosh leads into a version of 'bettr'r day-s' with its gorgeous sequencer / mellotron combination. Wonderful sympathetic melodic lead guitar gives that added oomph without over doing it. This is an absolutely brilliant start full of energy but it is also a wonderful composition from which the rest of the track was improvised. The original sequence still acts as a backing as further synth colouring washes around the pulsations. A new sequence starts to form, blending with the first perfectly as do Gary's guitar licks. The music seeps deep into the body and brain creating a wonderful electronic freaked out experience. We then descend into swirling chaos that sounds half like a hurricane and half screaming audience. A very deep four note pulse / throb then emerges accompanied by just the occasional sonic embellishment. All sorts of whooshes join in as we subside to just the occasional twittering effect. Things become quite haunting then an organ makes an appearance. Gary adds more of his guitar. All is then drowned in snarling electronics before calm is restored once more. Ideal for late night listening with the lights out! (DL)
