Ron Boots & Demo Art
Schlobburg
Not an English sleevenote to be seen so it's speculation time again, but it looks like this is a collaboration between Ron Boots and a collective known as Demo Art, and the music is from a live event in Schloß Burg on April 1st 1995 which seems to tell a story of some sort. 20 tracks are on show, six of which feature the spoken word and one has distinctly dodgy vocals. Ron Boots contributes five pieces which, by his standards, are rather luke warm though they do have their moments especially on the epic 'Walstatt'. Much of the music is delivered in brooding fashion, and there are many classical overtones as well as military style references. I suspect the event commemorated a battle or war and if I knew the full story I could probably appreciate it better. Other artists such as Volker Rapp contribute pieces but overall I found it all heavy going and the music failed to inspire or captivate. (GG)
