The Spell
|
The sleevenotes tempt you to "ride their trippy rhythms and warm electronic winds through the time mirror, to the virtual world where the sorcerer casts potent spells and the magician conjures up a palace of dreams".
'The Magician' is quite a classical piece, grandiose at times while delicate and melancholy at others. 'Perfect Evening for Flying Carpets' alternates meditative passages with busy interludes, bound together with a whimsical melody which does appeal in places.'Time in the Mirror' is a relaxing collage of bell and glockenspiel type sounds and 'Palace of Dreams' airs subdued themes with elongated synth choirs and strings. 'The Spell' is a beautifully delicate piece reminiscent of some of Tomita's work while 'Merlins Last Voyage', at just under 10 minutes the longest track, is a deceptively simple piece which contains some impressive subliminal touches and luscious synth pads.
'The Spell' represents the more terrestrial side of Hearts of Space and is the perfect accompaniment for relaxation and contemplation. (GG)
