Bernd Kistenmacher
Starting Again
|
The first track holds the CDROM information, the other two offer over 55 minutes of music. The multimedia presentation is very good,
encompassing videos, wave samples, photos and extensive information about Bernd Kistenmacher (in both German and English). I found
Bernd’s personal biography extremely interesting. I especially noted the fact that his past career includes plenty of four-letter-acronym EM
organisations and friendships made and broken. Somehow it all seemed so familiar.
The music was recorded live at the Planetarium in Jena in May 1995. ‘Ein seltener Moment schöner Übereinstimmung’ weighs in at just
over the thirty minute mark and combines a repetitive sequence with impressive swathes of synthesis. It’s fair to say that the sequences are
actually fairly mediocre compared to other Kistenmacher efforts, however the track as a whole still works. ‘Beauty Lights’ is separate both in
terms of track number and a fade, however it is simply a continuation of the same piece. Here though the sequences really do kick and
combined with rampant synth leads this is a classic slab of Electronic Music.
If you’ve got a PC then the CDROM track is certainly worth a look, and musically the latter half of this concert is superb. I’m convinced. (GG)
