Centrozoon are Markus Reuter and Bernhard Wostheinrich. This album is a live recording from 2001. Looped chaotic shimmering sounds provide an interesting start to 'Harvest Girls'. A lead line soars high above the shimmers. Its rather meandering but quite intense and not particularly melodic. There's no doubt it grabs the attention however. Completely unclassifiable stuff and very different to the rest of the album. 'This one Will Please You' is a rather daring title to a track which is much more conventional compared to the opener. Soft pads / tones waft through the air providing a very pleasant and relaxing combination of sounds.

'The Sable Orbit' is cosmic in an almost symphonic way. Sounds swell and break like energy erupting from some stellar object. There is a majestic feel to it but also as the track progresses a delicate ethereal quality, some of the drones having something of a sighing vocal edge to them. 'This one Won't Please You' is another spacey offering but in a somewhat less active area of the galaxy. The sounds chosen sometimes have a metallic edge to them. It was OK but didn't grab me as much as its predecessor. On 'Several Chilled Wives' the pads have a sort of breathing in / breathing out feel to them. Its very restful, maybe too much so for me, loved the slightly organ sounding last minute though.

In complete contrast 'Tales of Children in Trees' is a rhythmic number. The combination of beats are rather fast and complex and wouldn't have been out of place on the FAX label. One thing is for sure they are fascinating and certainly demand your attention. Nice one. Mention must also be made of the packaging. The CD is housed in a rather minimalist (though good quality) card sleeve. The CD itself is pure white just containing the same small graphic found on the sleeve- ambient packaging for a mainly ambient album. (DL)

Centrozoon zijn Markus Reuter en Bernard Wostheinrich. Dit album is een live opname uit 2001. Geloopte chaotische schemerige klanken leveren een interessante start voor "Harvest Girls". Een sololijn breekt door de schemering. Heel veel beweging, zeer intens en niet uitsluitend melodisch. Dit grijpt je aandacht. Waar moeten we dit plaatsen, dit is ook heel verschillend met de rest van het album. "This one will please you", een vrij gedurfde titel voor een erg conventionele track in vergelijk met de opener.

Zachte tapijtjes vliegen door de lucht en leveren een erg prettige en relaxte klankcombinatie. " The Sable Orbit" is kosmisch op een bijna symfonische manier. Klanken zwellen aan en vallen terug weg als energie afkomstig van een stellair voorwerp. Er is een immens gevoel en toch ontwikkelt de track zich met een delicate etherische kwaliteit, sommige drones hebben zelfs iets van een kreunend vocaal kantje. "This one won't please you" is een ruimtelijk stuk maar dan uit een rustiger gedeelte van de sterrenhemel. De gekozen klanken klinken soms wat metalig. Het klinkt ok maar kon me niet zo boeien als het vorige. Op "Several Chilled Wives" hebben de klanken een soort van 'adem in/adem uit' gevoel. Heel kalmerend, misschien zelfs wat te veel voor mij, ik hield wel van het soort orgelklank in de laatste minuten. Een compleet contrast is "Tales of Children in Trees", een ritmisch nummer. De combinatie van beats is vrij snel en complex en zou zeker niet misstaan op het FAX-label. Eén ding is zeker, ze zijn fascinerend en eisen zeker je aandacht. Een mooi nummer.
