The Keep
|
As a film ‘The Keep’ is a masterpiece even without the TD soundtrack. Together though, they formed one of the great Audio/Visual events of the
eighties and the Franke/Froese/ Schmoelling soundtrack gained almost legendary status mainly because of the conspicuous absence of an official
soundtrack release. But wait no more, because it’s here.
Firstly a word about the packaging. Advertised as a “special edition”, it’s stunning - a substantial digipack in glossy black with a marvellous picture
CD. Unfortunately this has bumped up the price accordingly - apologies but £25 was the very minimum price we could achieve. We have only a
limited number of copies and we don’t plan to re-stock.
Who can forget the refrains of Logos as they pull the stone from the inner chamber? Or, best of all, the TD adaptation of The Snowman theme
‘Walking in the Air’ during the closing credits? For me, two highlights of the soundtrack - and incredibly neither of them are included here! ‘Logos’ I
can just about forgive because of its availability elsewhere. But ‘Walking in the Air’ - well, I must admit I was gutted because that’s the main reason
I bought the album! OK, there are 16 pieces here to capture the mystique of the film. OK, the packaging is magnificent. OK, it sounds great. But I’m
still pissed off. (GG)
