(Excerpt from track 'Spyra / Voltage Controlled Piano')
This is the second CD in the series, the first being 'SpaceTranceTronicsNight 1999'. SpaceTranceTronicsNight is a concert series in Germany which started two years ago. Each year the ticket to get in is actually a CD single containing unique music by the bands playing. This year AirSculpture are on the bill so presumably on the 2001 version of this disc we will get a track by them. Last year's audience were treated to Spyra , Project-Inter.com (aka Keller & Schonwalder plus Bernd Braun of Arcanum and Bas Broekhuis) and Fanger & Kersten so it is tracks by these artists which grace the current disc. Every single second of music on this CD is awesome.

The Spyra track 'Voltage controlled Piano' begins with a very deep heavy sequence, the sort of thing Peter Baumann might have come up with and then a seriously moody piano melody joins it that could have come straight from Johannes Schmoelling. This is an incredible piece of music. Even if you have never liked the sound of the piano before - just listen to this you might change your mind. Spyra is one of the most talented musicians on the scene today. The Project-Inter.com track 'Hardware (Excerpt)' is basically a classic piece of Berlin School sequencer magic. It lasts eight minutes but I wish it could have gone on for eighty. The sequences are stonking and the leads truly blistering- fantastic stuff!

Finally Fanger & Kersten give is a different mix of a track from their latest CD 'Slashdown' called 'Water Theme (Night Beach Mix)'. We begin with the sound of birds and the sea crashing on the shore. Pads float along with the waves as they weave a gentle melody. A sequencer starts up and a rhythm is added. The beat quickens and becomes quite bouncy, designed to get your body moving to it - certainly worked on me! (DL)
