'Connect' begins with a series of vocal samples which permeate excellent deep dark swirling pads. Then in comes a very good sequence / rhythm combination soon to be followed by a jaunty optimistic lead line. Its perfect music for motorway driving. The melodies get better and better. It should be liked by anyone into the more commercial side of EM, say Andy Pickford or T Bass UK. Though not sounding exactly like these acts it has the same upbeat tuneful appeal.. 'Nice 2 CU' is straight into more extremely enjoyable melodies and happy rhythms. Completely untaxing but very well put together- actually on this one Pickford most certainly did come to mind. For some, the lead lines might be a little sweet but for others they will be spot on.

On the title track more very easy to get on with melodies bounce over a chugging train like rhythm and sequence. One of the sequences is even a little Jarreish. There's plenty a twist and turn but always enjoyable. One of the later melodies even sounded a little like Vangelis. 'In Balance' is a slower more thoughtful number the lead sounds being mainly flute and bells then plucked strings. Vangelis again comes to mind as well as some of the more romantic Frank Van Bogaert. A little sweet for my tastes but still a good track.

This quieter tranquil pace is continued through to 'Ground Zero'. With a title like that obvious images come to mind. Musically it is a collage of soft pads and half heard vocal samples. A tranquil brass line can be heard fairly low in the mix then a more strident one (again sounding a little Pickfordish) takes over. 'Schattentanz' begins with piano, a snare drum is added and things become increasingly syncopated as we progress- nice enough I suppose but for me not a highlight. 'Nordland' begins with acoustic guitar. We bop along on the back of a relaxed rhythm to which more and more melodies using a variety of different sounds are added. Its extremely happy and tuneful, again bordering on the 'sweet' but certainly a very pleasant track.

We make a windy transition to 'Gobi'. Ethereal pads and a slow deep beat are added. More rhythm and a sequence come in and we chug along very nicely, the melodies as ever being spot on. Its a lovely track. 'Metallino' lives up to its name by having a rather metallic almost steel drum lead line. In no way is this Caribbean sounding though it does give a rather bright structure around which other rhythms and sequences play. Its extremely tuneful but somehow with a hint of melancholy.

'Horizont' continues this faintly sad feeling as we begin with a mournful piano melody. Its a very delicate track but just too 'twee' for me. 'Different Colours' is the longest track at over eighteen minutes. It has a rather atmospheric beginning out of which a bright lead line, slow sequence and rhythm emerge. More sequences are added but the mood is still fairly tranquil. The pace starts to quicken in the third minute. An excellent mean sequence comes in just before the six minute mark and its foot down on the accelerator time again. This is fantastic stuff! The sequence really means business but also melodically its a delight. Three minutes later we calm down to a lovely ethereal section, a sequence still going in the background ready to propel the track forward again. The pads swell, more lovely melodies are added and an excellent rhythm comes in, an anthemic lead line flashing over the top.

By the twelfth minute the tender side of Klangwelt comes to the surface again and yet it provides one of the highlights of the album- beautiful in a thoughtful way rather than slushy. I heard of Klangwelt through the excellent track that was donated to the 'Syntonic Waves Vol 8' compilation I reviewed a few months ago. The first and last roughly twenty minutes each provided pretty much what I would have expected given that offering but the rest, the filling to the sandwich if you like, showed a much softer side to the artist. It is almost as if we had two different albums but throughout its all extremely melodic and accessible. (DL)

"Connect" begint met een aantal vocale samples die erg goed, diepe donkere kronkelende drones ondersteunen. Er komt een heel goede sequence/ritme combinatie bij, al snel gevolgd door een kwieke optimistische solo. Perfecte muziek om mee op de snelweg te rijden. De melodie wordt beter en beter. Iedereen die houdt van meer commerciële EM, zoals Andy Pickford of T Bass UK vindt dit waarschijnlijk goed, al klinkt het niet hetzelfde, het heeft dezelfde upbeat aantrekkingskracht.

"Nice 2 C U" heeft een aangename melodie en een gelukzalig ritme. Heel goed samengebracht,dit deed me het meest denken aan Andy Pickford. Voor sommigen zullen de solo's wat te zoet zijn, voor anderen zijn ze de top. De titeltrack heeft goed in het oor liggende melodieën en een sequence/ritme dat loopt als een trein. Eén van de sequences klinkt een beetje Jarre. Er is veel afwisseling maar het blijft aangenaam. Eén van de verdere melodieën klinkt dan weer wat Vangelis. "In Balance" is een trager maar bezonnen nummer, met hoofdzakelijk fluiten en bellen en later geplukte strings als soloklank. Nogmaals komt Vangelis in mij op alsook een meer romantische Frank Van Bogaert. Een beetje te soft voor mijn gevoel maar nog steeds goed. De rust houdt aan in "Ground Zero". Met zo'n titel komen er direct beelden in me op. Muzikaal gezien is dit een collage van zachte tapijtjes en half verstaanbare stemmen. Een zachte brasslijn bevindt zich onder in de mix maar wordt dan overgenomen door een overheersende (weer wat Andy Pickford-achtig) brass.

"Schattentanz" begint met piano en dan een snare drum, de track bouwt zich syncopatisch op – goed denk ik maar voor mij geen hoogtepunt. "Nordland" begint met akoestische gitaar. We kabbelen verder met een relaxed ritme en meer en meer melodieën met verschillende klanken worden toegevoegd. Erg vrolijk en klankrijk, toch weer wat zacht naar mijn smaak, maar erg prettig. We maken een winderige sprong naar "Gobi", met zijn etherische paden en een trage diepe beat. Meer sequences en ritme komen erbij, het hoogtepunt blijft bij de melodie. Een lieflijke track. "Metallino" klinkt erg…..euh….metaalachtig, door zijn bijna als steel drums klinkende solo. Dit klinkt zeker niet Caribisch, integendeel, maar wel erg fris. Ook erg klankrijk met een melancholisch trekje. "Horizont" gaat verder met deze weemoedige gevoelens en we beginnen met een droevige pianomelodie. Dit is een heel gevoelige track maar wat te lief voor mij. "Different Colours" is de langste track met meer dan 18 minuten. Een heel atmosferisch begin waaruit een solo groeit en een trage sequence/ritme combinatie. Meer sequences worden ingezet maar het gevoel blijft erg rustig. Rond de 3e minuut versnelt het. Een felle sequence komt er rond de 6e minuut bij en weer gaat het tempo omhoog. Dit is geweldig materiaal! De sequence is super maar is ook heel melodisch en dit is een waar genoegen. Drie minuten later kalmeren we terug naar een lieve etnische passage, nog steeds met een sequence op de achtergrond. De klanken zwellen terug aan met een lovende solo er boven op. Rond de 12e minuut komt de zachte kant van Klangwelt terug naar boven en levert nu één van de hoogtepunten van het album.
