Wave World Structures

Wave World is multimedia project taking the audience to a virtual alien world accompanied by live electronic music performed by Harry Kessels, Gert van Santen and Rolf van Slooten. The concept includes an audio-visual concert format and, according to the sleeve notes, a fantasy motion picture which will feature characters and a story line which will be published in a novel. The animation film soundtrack, again composed by Wave World, will also be released on an album. A trailer for the project is included on the disc and quite impressive it is too. The music encompasses several genres of E.M., including ambient, cosmic and improvisational forms. As a soundtrack the music stands up quite well if you enjoy atmospheric, space music, but I suspect it works better when accompanying the visuals which are an essential part of the multi media experience. Musically and visually this is an exciting project. The short (quicktime) movie provided on the disc is an impressive experience with fantastic music and breath taking computer animation. Further investigation of the full project, when it arrives, looks mandatory. In itself this is a CD definitely worth considering because the music alone is enjoyable, with EM fans across the spectrum finding something to their liking. I especially enjoyed the uptempo, more commercial sections. Highly recommended. (GG)
